The successful candidate will have experience in the criminal justice system and familiarity with work in a corrections environment. Correctional Officers are responsible for managing inmates and observing the activities of jail inmates, keeping a record of all activities, maintaining security and preventing disturbances.Responsibilities: Interact with diverse groups including inmates, family members, visitors, volunteers, and community representatives. Identify and control hazards to ensure a safe environment for inmates, staff, volunteers, and visitors. Maintain a safe environment for inmates by monitoring assigned areas for people and contraband. Intervene if there is a situation that involves an inmate or visitor that could lead to injury or damage to property. Report inappropriate situations to supervisors and follow the action plan.
