Certification Must-Have: - 1 year of acute care experience as a
licensed therapist - Ability to evaluate and treat adult acute care
patients - Provide discharge recommendations - Communicate safe
mobility plans to the interdisciplinary team Description: The
department provides occupational therapy services to adult acute
care patients. The typical patient load is 8-10 patients treated
per day. There are 5-7 therapists working each day. Common
diagnoses include neurologic conditions like CVA, MS, Parkinson's,
and Guillain-Barre syndrome. Other patient types include those with
general medical, orthopedic issues like total joints and fractures,
cardiac conditions, and oncology cases. Coverage includes all acute
care adult populations except the ICU. Experience in acute care is
essential, as acute rehab experience may not be considered
sufficient. Travelers will only cover the ICU if they have
substantial prior ICU experience. EMR utilized is EPIC. There is a
manager on each shift to oversee operations. Rehab aides are
available to assist but COTAs are not utilized. The scheduling
consists of 4 ten-hour days per week. Weekend work is required for
40% of weekends, typically every other full weekend, with
occasional opportunities for two weekends off in a row. Holidays
are rarely required for travelers unless there is a specific need.
Dress code is flexible, allowing for any color scrubs or business
casual attire. Orientation includes at least two days of onboarding
with an experienced staff preceptor. Travelers should plan to work
a full schedule during the first week to accommodate onboarding.
All candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius to meet
