experience preferred. Ortho experience is a plus. First-time
travelers are accepted. Description: The unit has 24 beds with
nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:5 for both days and nights. Common
diagnoses include general medical-surgical cases, COPD,
withdrawals, pancreatitis, infections, and surgical patients (total
joints, urology, OB/GYN, general surgeries). Nurses are not
required to titrate drips, but there are some common titratable and
set-rate drips, such as Heparin and PCAs. Nurses are not expected
to read their own telemetry strips but are required to be telemetry
aware. A charge nurse is present on each shift and does not take a
patient assignment unless necessary. Assistant Nurse Managers are
available for support as needed. There are three CNAs on the unit
with ratios of 1:8-12. Nurses will assist with activities of daily
living, vital signs, intake/output, ambulation, linen changes,
showers, oral care, and blood sugars. Respiratory therapy is
available, and nurses will administer all breathing treatments and
manage respiratory equipment, including home CPAP and High Flow.
BIPAP can be initiated on the unit and then transferred off as
necessary. The schedule follows modified self-scheduling, allowing
initial placement on the schedule with subsequent self-scheduling
opportunities. Flexibility is essential to help fill schedule gaps.
Weekend commitment involves six 12-hour shifts within a six-week
schedule. Nurses may be asked to participate in holiday rotations.
Floating to other medical-surgical units and outside facilities may
be required based on staffing needs, with a goal of providing a
two-hour notice prior to the shift start. Staff may be asked to
float mid-shift as necessary. Bedside shift reports are expected
for every patient during each shift. Teamwork is essential in this
unit, where all staff are encouraged to assist each other as
