Pay Information $2,641 per week About The Position Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Women's Services Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 year License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, STABLE Must-Have: - Must have 3 years of Labor and Delivery experience. - Must have mother-baby experience. - Must be able to attend deliveries and complete 1 hour of newborn care. - Must have experience in triage and circulating C-Sections. - Must provide postpartum couplet care. - Must have experience with magnesium. - Charge nurse experience preferred. Description: The position involves working in a Labor and Delivery unit. Patients stay in the same room throughout their hospital stay. The unit has 14 beds and 2 operating suite for C-Sections. The average number of births is approximately 90 per month. The staffing ratios follow AWHONN guidelines. Labor is 1:1 unless pairing cervical ripening patients. Postpartum care is 1:3 for couplets. Triage care is typically 1:3, but can accommodate 4 patients with a resource nurse. Required certifications include NRP, BLS, ACLS, and STABLE. Common diagnoses include gestation of 32 weeks and greater, hypertension, gestational diabetes, and other medical interventions. Charge nurses do not take assignments and there is an admin supervisor on each shift. There is a resource nurse and a triage RN available. A certified surgical technologist and a certified nursing assistant are usually scheduled per shift. Obstetric hospitalists and neonatal nurse practitioners are available 24/7. Anesthesia services are on-site around the clock. Telemetry capabilities exist on the unit, but patients typically transition to a higher level of care when necessary. There is no call requirement for this position, and floating to different sites may be necessary based on patient needs. Uniforms are provided, and staff are required to change into them at the beginning and end of each shift. Travelers often extend their contracts, and there is a no acrylic or gel nail policy in the department.
