Job Description:
We are seeking an accomplished and dynamic professional to join
our organization as a Senior Project Manager level 1 (Sr. PM I). As
a senior member of our Enterprise Program Management Office (EPMO),
you will be responsible for leading and delivering complex projects
that are critical to our strategic objectives. Your exceptional
project management expertise, leadership skills, and strategic
mindset will be instrumental in driving project success and
achieving business outcomes.
The EPMO Senior PM I is an upper mid-level position reporting
directly into the EPMO within Amentum's corporate Enterprise
Transformation function. Potential projects range between
software-development and infrastructure, to integrations, business
systems, transformation, continuous improvement, contract
compliance, and security initiatives.
This role must have intermediate knowledge in several sub-functions
within overall business functions like information technology,
human resources, finance, global supply chain, compliance, and
other processes to support projects that include mergers and
acquisition integrations, continuous improvement, and enterprise
transformation.
Essential Responsibilities:
Project governance and compliance: Implement and enforce project
governance frameworks, ensuring compliance with project management
methodologies, standards, and best practices. Partner with junior
team members to help train, coach, and provide feedback to improve
knowledge, performance, and maturity. Drive continuous improvement
in the management of projects based on lessons learned and industry
best practices. Provide input to senior EPMO members on ways to
improve governance and compliance processes and efficiencies.
Project Planning and Execution: Provide strategic leadership and
direction in the planning and execution of large, complex projects.
Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to define scope,
objectives, deliverables, cost, timelines, business case, and
success criteria. Develop, tailor, and implement project management
strategies based on the needs of the project to ensure alignment
with organizational goals. Develop comprehensive project management
plans, resource allocation strategies, and risk management
approaches. Drive projects from Initiating to Benefits Realization,
ensuring adherence to project timelines, budget, and quality
standards. Stakeholder management: Build and maintain strong
relationships with key stakeholders, including senior executives,
department heads, and external partners. Collaborate closely,
understand stakeholder expectations, and ensure effective
communication and alignment throughout the project lifecycle.
Anticipate and manage stakeholder needs, concerns, and risks to
foster strong partnerships and drive project success. Team
Management: Lead and inspire cross-functional project teams,
providing guidance, coaching, and mentorship to drive high
performance. Foster an inclusive, collaborative, and empowering
work environment, encouraging innovation, professional growth, and
knowledge sharing. Optimize resource allocation, promote teamwork,
and manage conflicts proactively to maximize team performance and
project outcomes. Risk and Issue Management: Identify, document,
assess, and mitigate project risks and issues, applying advanced
risk management strategies. Develop contingency plans and
escalation protocols. Regularly monitor project risks, implement
mitigation measures, and communicate risk status to stakeholders.
Drive proactive problem-solving and decision-making to address
complex project challenges. Adoption Change Management: Assess and
address the impact of projects on the organization, including
changes in processes, systems, and culture. Develop and implement
adoption change management strategies to maximize project adoption
and minimize resistance. Collaborate with change management teams
and stakeholders to ensure smooth project transitions and
sustainable outcomes. Foster a culture of change readiness,
innovation, and continuous improvement. Change Management :
Assesses and tracks all change requests to evaluate project
impacts; seeks/obtains buy-in from appropriate decision makers.
Resource Management: Work with stakeholders to identify and assign
people resources with appropriate capacity and skillset. Ensure
appropriate project codes are requested and assigned for actual
labor and cost tracking. Determine external and material resources
are understood, procured, and assigned. Monitor resource
utilization and work with stakeholders to adjust as necessary.
Financial Management and Budget Oversight: Develop and manage
project budgets, closely monitoring expenditures and financial
performance. Ensure appropriate project codes are requested and
assigned for actual labor and cost tracking. Collaborate with
finance teams to forecast project financials, analyze variances,
and provide accurate financial reporting. Implement cost control
measures and optimize resource allocation to maximize project value
and ensure financial transparency and compliance. Quality and
Performance Management: Ensure adherence to project management
processes and procedures. Develop and maintain accurate and
up-to-date project schedules and project plans. Develop and manage
project site to be used as the central repository for project
documentation, risk/issue management, and collaboration. Ensures
appropriate reviews are held with the team and key stakeholders and
is accountable for getting signoffs/approvals as necessary.
Conducts quality assurance activities, ensuring adherence to
project management processes. Identify opportunities for process
improvement, lessons learned, and share best practices across
projects and teams. Communications Management: Provide and
facilitate excellent/robust communication; run effective meetings
with clear objectives. Provide presentations to medium-to-large
size audiences and demonstrate advanced and effective business
writing skills. Expedite initiatives amidst ever-changing business
requirements and organization priorities. Maintains relationships
with functional organizations; is cognizant of project impacts on
any aspect of other initiatives and vice versa. Seeks input from
supervisor and mentors and appropriately and accurately applies
comments/feedback. Develops regular status reports and communicates
key status information to include project progress, key milestones,
budget, risks/issues, etc. Prepares executive-level project
presentations and facilitates project reviews. Performs other
duties as required.
Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
Bachelor's degree or Technical Certification in a related field
(e.g., Business Administration, Project Management,
Engineering).
8 years managing Information Technology/Services and/or Acquisition
Integration projects.
In-depth knowledge and application of PMI's project management
methodology. Relevant project management certifications (e.g., PMP,
Agile, Scrum, Lean Six Sigma) are highly desirable; PMP
certification preferred; other project management certifications a
plus
Extensive experience as a project manager, successfully leading and
delivering large-scale, complex projects. Experience in managing
government contracts or projects.
Proven track record of strategic project leadership and ability to
drive results in a dynamic environment.
Must be a current U.S. citizen; may require security clearances on
multiple contracts to perform certain duties as needed.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, to include Excel,
PowerPoint, Word, Visio, and SharePoint.
Proficient in Microsoft Project and Project Online required.
Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to
motivate and inspire cross-functional teams. Excellent stakeholder
management and communication skills, including executive-level
presentations.
Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
with a strategic mindset.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic
environment. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
in a team environment.
Ability to present complex technical information to a non-technical
audience. Ability to communicate true status of projects even if
the message is not favorable.
Industry-specific knowledge and experience related to the
organization's projects are preferred (Cyber, Infrastructure,
Application Development, etc.).
Humility - Ability to accept and apply constructive criticism and
understand that personal development never stops. Able to set role
aside and sometimes perform activities like testing and training to
assist the team in meeting project deliverables.
Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:
CONUS: Normal office environment.
On occasion, work extended hours (other than normal business hours)
to support contractual requirements to meet customer needs
Must possess planning/organizing skills
Must be able to work under deadlines
This position is remote. Occasional travel may be required.
