Overview: NLC's Curriculum department designs and develops industry-leading curriculum and training programs used by NLC and hundreds of utility and construction companies across the U.S. Our curriculum ranges from entry-level career training programs to advanced material used by industry leading professionals. With a large staff of subject matter experts, curriculum developers, and graphic designers, editors, and coordinators, our Curriculum team prides itself on educational excellence in every project. The Curriculum Graphic Designer will create graphics, design templates, infographics, educational signage, and vector art that elevate educational experiences for the trade workforce, through all stages of career growth and development. The person in this role will partner with a team of creative problem-solvers and subject matter experts to design visually engaging curriculum that is delivered in the classroom, lab, field, and virtual environments. In this position you will have the opportunity to::
Visually communicates educational concepts through imagery, graphics, illustrations, color, form, artwork, and layout that enhance learning.
Creates design templates for PowerPoints, textbooks, workbooks, booklets, and other curriculum materials and brand kits based on student audience, industry, and customer.
Creatively problem solves, balancing quality and practicality, to achieve project goals within defined timelines.
Leverages technology to efficiently design, track, publish, and quality check curriculum including Adobe InDesign, LMS, and Monday.com.
Reinforces the Three-Phase Educational Model and Four-Step Delivery Method through design while adhering to the department operations manual and style guides.
Collaborates with curriculum developers, curriculum coordinators, curriculum editors, subject matter experts, and Creative team members to bring content to life.
Drives alignment to content through skillful interview and facilitation techniques to extract design requirements from customers, stakeholders, and subject matter experts.
Provides warm, solutions-focused service to our customers and teammates.
Actively learns about the trade workforce, our customers, and our products and services, including our vast library of curriculum and associated assets.
Commits to continual self-improvement and lifelong learning; and ensuring the success of other Eagles and the organization, in accordance with NLC's mission, values and ethos.
The successful candidate will possess the following::
High level of abstract reasoning, including flexible thinking, creativity, judgement, and logical problem solving
Proven ability to prioritize and deliver in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, coordinating multiple projects and responsibilities concurrently
High standard of professionalism
Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills
Ability to attend to detail while maintaining a big-picture orientation
Excellent communication and listening skills in English, both oral and written
High standard of positive, friendly customer service in execution of duties
Required Education & Experience::
Bachelors in graphic design, art, or related field
Four (4) years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree
Experience working in a content production environment
Experience using Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) and workplace productivity tools (Monday.com)
Knowledge of curriculum development, illustrations, and pre-and post-production quality checks preferred
Knowledge of basic office and web-based software (MS Office Suite, Monday.com, Smartsheet) preferred
